Obituary of Henry HILLMO
Our Dad and Grandpa passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the age of 93 years.
Dad was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in the early 1950s. He worked for Loram for many years and travelled to jobs throughout the prairie provinces and territories. Dad was known for his friendly personality and sense of humour. Lately he shared many funny stories from his past with us. Dad followed politics with great interest and loved engaging in lively discussions. Dad enjoyed going to the casino where he often won. He was a big fan of curling and watched as much curling as he could. Henry’s daughters became pretty good at following the games. Dad loved to garden and missed that greatly when he and Mum moved out of their home. He was very proud of his tomato and potato crops. Above everything, Dad loved to be with his family. Sunday dinners with family and friends and loud boisterous card games were a big part of our growing up. The grandsons learned early that Grandpa won most of the games.
Dad will be dearly missed and mourned by his daughters, Linda (Don), Janice, Darlene (Dennis), and Cathy (James and son Jamie), and grandson Aaron (Maggie). We are comforted knowing Dad will be joining his wife of 65 years, Melva (2018), son, David (2002) and grandson, Bradley (2000). Dad was the last of his siblings, but he is survived by nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of.
A big thank you to Eau Claire Senior Residence whose staff cared for Dad with so much kindness.
As per Henry’s wishes there will be a private family service at a later date. Please forward condolences through www.calgarycrematorium.com.
