All of us are so sad that Joan has passed away. I always admired her strong will and stamina fighting this cursed disease. Joan was a real fighter not only for herself but for so many others and for you Mel. I firmly believe that this is not the end but the beginning. May God have mercy on her soul.

Marie Chidley and I have fond memories of Joan and her tireless work with the Council of Canadians and Friends of Medicare. So many of our meetings such as at the Parkland Institute conferences seem just like yesterday. She believed, as do we, in a better tomorrow. Let we who survive carry on her good works.
