Obituary of Theresa McRoberts

Terry McRoberts passed away at the Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary on July 8, 2019 at the age of 94.

Terry’s three children survive her: Patricia McRoberts, Janet (Mike) Birdsell and Dan McRoberts. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Ryan Beck, James Beck, Blair Birdsell and Sean (Laura) Birdsell and by five great-grandchildren who brought her great joy over the past 8 years. Born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Terry began life on the homestead settled by her parents in 1909, the last of her family to be born in the old farmhouse just before it was converted to a hen house. Her seven brothers and sisters predeceased her; she is survived only by her sister-in-law Helen Kleckner of Regina. She had vivid memories of growing up on the prairies during the Depression and was fiercely proud of her heritage. After moving to Calgary in 1950 Terry married James McRoberts, her husband for 44 years until his death in 1995. Her working life ended in 1990 after 23 years in physical plant administration at the University of Calgary. 

Terry was a member of the Holy Cross Anglican Church congregation for more than 60 years, and an energetic participant in the Women’s Guild and ACW. A memorial service will be held at the church at 2828 19th Street NW, Calgary on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at noon, followed by refreshments.
