Obituary of Marguerite WADDELL

Please share a memory of Marguerite to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marguerite Katherine Anna Waddell of Calgary passed away suddenly on February 13, 2014 at the Foothills Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Annie English; sisters Neta Campbell and Bernice Telford; her son Bruce Waddell; her loving partner Don Marion; and her three sons-in-law Laurie Cameron, John Gordon and Butch Kirk. Mom was born on the family farm at Cardale Manitoba on March 1, 1928 and took all her schooling in Cardale. Growing up with her siblings on the farm was a simple life, but one she talked about often. In 1948 she married Don Waddell of Newdale and from this union they had four children Audrey, Donna, Bruce and Patricia. They lived on a farm in Newdale until 1956, then Mom and us kids moved to Cardale. Mom started working at the Co-op and eventually became the manager. In 1978 she moved to Portage and started working with Robinson’s Store and was later transferred to Fort McMurray and then Valley-view. Another career change then took Mom to Calgary to work with K-mart and then onto Woodwards. There she made many lasting friendships. In 1981 she met Don Marion who became her best friend and the love of her life. They enjoyed many happy years together travelling to Arizona and different parts of the four western provinces. Mom and Don spent countless hours volunteering at the Legion for the Poppy Drive and were on the Sick And Visiting Committee. Sadly Don passed away in 2009. Mom is survived and will be forever missed by daughters Audrey Kirk (Hamiota, MB), Donna Gordon (Winnipeg, MB), and Patricia Cameron (Surrey, BC). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her brother Harvey English and his family. She will be remembered by all. Mom will be laid to rest at a later date in Manitoba.
