Obituary of Harvey Douglas Wylie
Harvey Wylie, beloved father and friend, of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the age of 86 years.
Harvey accomplished much throughout his life. He attended
Montana State University where he played football and
graduated with a degree in Engineering. From there he
continued his football career and triumphed in making a
name for himself in his home town of Calgary. He became a
legendary football player with the Calgary Stampeders,
playing 1956-1964, where he was inducted into the CFL Hall
of Fame, Stamps’ Wall of Fame, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame,
and Montana State University Hall of Fame.
Harvey followed his sporting years with an exceptionally
successful career in Oil and Gas, where he was notably
President of Beaufort-Oil Project Limited, as well as other
large consortiums along the way. He spent much of his life
adding to his achievements and traveling the world. Harvey
always enjoyed following sports, reading a good book, and
having a great cup of coffee, particularly if the weather was
nice. For many reasons he will be remembered, but he will be
missed most for his tenacious attitude, wittiness, and caring
heart.
Harvey is survived by daughters Barbara and Courtney; son Wes; grandchildren Cameron, Collin, Cliff, and Piper; great- grandchildren, Brynn, Storm, and Margot.
Harvey is predeceased by his children Harvey C, and Pamela and his parents Arthur and Edna.
A Private interment will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery where Harvey will be interred with Pamela and Harvey Wylie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of William and Jean Wylie on October 22, 2019 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
