Obituary of William Howard Clark

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William Clark, beloved husband of Maureen (nee Saj) of Calgary, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 76 years after a brief, yet brave battle with cancer.

Born in Montreal on May 2, 1943, Bill studied at Mount Allison University before meeting and marrying his loving wife of 53 years, Maureen Clark. He had a thirty-four year career in IT, including thirty-one years at CP Rail, working his way up from Computer Programmer to Director of CP Rail’s Customer Service Centre. He was a loving, devoted father and husband, who always put his family first. His greatest joys in life were the many family trips taken over the years, to Florida in the early years when the family was young and later to Hawaii with the grandchildren. Bill was also an active community member during his time in Montreal. He coached his three children in various sports and was respected and beloved by all.

In retirement, he and Maureen spent many winters in Arizona with their fellow “Yumans” where he enjoyed bridge and golf and was always up for an impromptu Elvis impersonation.

Bill is survived by his wife, Maureen Clark; children, William, Mary Ann, and Jennifer; sons-in-law, Robert Engelbrecht and Todd Leask; grandchildren, Callahan, Keahi, TJ, and Emily Anne; sister-in-law Leona, her husband Victor and their children Claire and Victor.

He was predeceased by his parents, Georgie and William Clark.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Unit 57, particularly Doctors K. Jamani and M. Modi, for the compassionate care they provided. Many thanks also to family and friends near and far for their love and support.

In memory of Bill and in lieu of flowers or tributes, please consider donating to your local blood bank.
