Obituary of Michael Reid

Michael William Reid, best Poppa and dad, dear friend and neighbour, trusted coach, lifelong jokester, task master, list maker, fisherman, camper, golfer, huge sports fan, meatatarian, expert lawn grower and dog lover passed away on November 24th, 2019.

 

Mike was born in Calgary on December 23, 1951 to Lillian and Wm. (Bill) Reid. Mike lived life to the fullest.  His sense of humour, big spirit and generosity were undeniable and his friendships were built on mutual respect, loyalty and enjoying life.  Mike supported all his family, friends and neighbours with any and all needs, big and small.  He was always there to help.

At work, Mike had high expectations for excellence both from himself and those he worked with. He retired from The City of Calgary, Recreation Department after 35 years and then, he continued his career with Benchmark Projects for 12 years.

 

He will be missed greatly by his best friend and wife Kim; children Michelle and Shawn (Dawn); grandchildren Jordan and Kassy; sister Darlene (Brian).

Mike had numerous family members, nieces and nephews who adored him.  He will always be fondly remembered by Cicely, Tammy, Stephanie, Kyle, and Kalli, Kevin, and Miguel, Nicole and John, Pam and Jeff (Claire and Caitie).

 

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Jim.

 

Mike was always one to love a good party, so his family invites you to wear your favourite sports jersey or golf shirt if you have one and celebrate his life on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at The Winston Golf Club, 2502 – 6 Street NE, Calgary from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
