Obituary of Gunther Brandler

Gunther, beloved husband of the Late Edith Brandler (nee Wronski) of Canmore, AB, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

 

Gunther was born in Chechoslovakia on June 13, 1929, moving to Braunschweig Germany after the war. In 1954 Gunther immigrated to Canada to begin a new life settling in Calgary, Alberta to be closer to the mountains.

 

In 1955 Gunther brought the love of his live Edith Wronski over to marry him and the following year their son Richard was born.

 

Gunther was an incredibly skilled carpenter, eventually designing high end furniture.

 

Upon retirement, Gunther built a beautiful home in Canmore, Alberta where he spent his golden years skiing all winter and hiking all summer.

 

A German saying from Uncle Gunther: Regen tropfen die an dein Fenster Klopfen - das merke Dir es ist ein gruss Von mir Translation: Raindrops knocking on your window - remember it is a greeting from me.

 

Guenther is survived by his brother Kurt Kovar, niece Monika Collet, great niece Melanie Collet, great niece Martina Collet, nephew Michael Wright, niece Maureen (nee Wright) Jennings, great niece Melissa Jennings, great nephew David Jennings, niece Margaret (nee Wright) Safoniuk,  great nephew Matthew Safoniuk, great niece Emma Safoniuk and his dear friend Roland Heier of Germany.

 

Guenther was predeceased by his loving wife Edith Brandler (nee Wronski); his son Richard Brandler; sister-in-laws, Irmgard Kovar, and Ingrid (nee Wronski) Wright.
