Cousins in Ontario related to Betty on the side of Mathew Brown, her grandfather, send condolences. Betty was a charming and interesting character.
Several of us have visited Betty over the years and exchanged Brown family history (Doreen and Jim Pate's family, Betty and Andy McRae's family and more). We admired Betty for her dogged determination to track down and sort out so many branches of her history, and for keeping up with so many of the far-flung relatives, whose acquaintance she made during her research trips.
She was particularly interested in accomplishments in business and industry of many ancestors who helped to build Canada from the 1850s to the 1950s,
Anyone tracking the Brown history could contact me, Ann McRae (eam53@yahoo.com) .
Within the past decade, Betty mistakenly shipped a quantity of non-Brown history documents to Ontario to the Pates. We do not recognize any of the names, so we assume it belongs to a different side of Betty's family tree. Contact me if your material is not found among Betty's papers, and you are curious.

I was saddened with the news of Betty's passing but was heartened when reflecting on the memories and common interests we shared together. Through the years, I thoroughly enjoyed our many chats and rounds of golf with Betty and Tommy at the Elks. So fondly remember Betty recounting her many adventures tracking down her roots and visiting cousins both within Canada and across the pond. Betty was such a good-natured and kind lady...always an inspirational teacher whether inside or outside the classroom. When someone you love becomes a memory... the memory becomes a treasure. May precious loving memories bring all of you comfort today, strength for tomorrow, and peace in the days ahead. May Love be what you remember most ... with deepest sympathies, Vicki Young
