DEGAUST – Ronald Silas December 14, 1934 – Lethbridge, Alberta March 1, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta We are sorry to announce the very sudden passing of our dear partner, father, great-grandfather, step-father, and uncle. Ronald was born in Lethbridge, AB on December 14, 1934. Ron received his education in Lethbridge and followed this with courses at S.A.I.T. Following this, Ron received more extensive training in Montreal during a partnership with Bell Canada in electronics. This lead him to work in Northern Canada in what, at that time, was called The Pine Tree Project. Following this he resumed his work with AGT, then Telus in Calgary and Lethbridge for 33 years, retiring in January, 1992. He was known by his friends as “FAST RONNIE”. Ron enjoyed volunteering in the Telephone Pioneers Club in Lethbridge, AB. After retiring he enjoyed camping, travelling, playing cards, pool and just loved hanging out with friends. Ron is survived by his partner of twenty-six years, Joyce Fielding; his son Christopher; step-granddaughter Brandie; and many nieces and nephews who all thought he was a “great uncle”. He was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Degaust and all his five siblings, Ethel, Thelma, Elsie, Gwen and his only brother William Daniel.
