It is with great sadness that we announce the passing from this life of Jean Sinclair in Calgary, Alberta.  Jean died on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Bow View Manor Care Facility at the age of 89 years.

Jean was born in Saskatoon and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with Distinction and top of her class with a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy. Jean worked for 50 years as a pharmacist; 25 years with Eaton’s, of which she retired as manager, Calgary Co-op, and independent pharmacies.

Jean had a strong love of animals and she was very involved with the family owned Cowell-Martin horse racing stables. Her and Jerry, for much of their life together, had pet dogs and loved sitting by the kitchen window watching the birds and squirrels eating out of the feeders they made. Along with Jerry, they made numerous toys and children’s furniture for their nephew’s children and for children in need, donating them through various organization throughout Calgary for 28 years. Both Jean and Jerry had very big hearts and enjoyed helping others, especially family relatives.

Jean is survived by nephews, Terry Donaleshen (Diana and children, Sarah, Jeniva, Michael, and David), Roland Donaleshen (Mary Ann and daughters, Jennifer, Caríosa, Stephanie, and Kathleen), and Raymond Donaleshen (Uschi and daughter, Alexandra).

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Gerald “Jerry”; parents, George and Olive Cowell; sister, Joyce Donaleshen; brother-in-law, Peter Donaleshen; and sister-in-law, June Paulson.

No Funeral or Memorial Services will be held, at Jean’s request and due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

If friends and family so desire, memorial tributes can be made to The Brenda Stafford Foundation, Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S., or The Calgary Children’s Hospital.

A special thanks goes to Dr. Dana Lymburner and the staff of The Brenda Strafford Bow View Manor for welcoming and caring for Jean during her time there, and in particular, comforting her during her last days.
