Thomas Power

Obituary of Thomas Joseph Power

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Thomas (Tom, Tommy) Power of Calgary passed away suddenly as a result of a paragliding accident on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the age of 56 years.

Tom was a man of adventure and risk was in his DNA.  He kite surfed, mountain biked, flew planes, travelled and lived all over the world.  Tom’s life was full of incredible stories and experiences, too numerous to tell here but which live on in our memories of him. A good natured and big-hearted native of Cape Breton, he graduated from TUNS with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was a licensed pilot.

Tom helped people who needed it, loved the simple things in life- good food, nature and especially adventure, made friends wherever he went, valued his family greatly, and lived and enjoyed his life thoroughly.  Tom found a way to live his life with the things that really made him happy. We celebrate his life because we know he followed his passions.  For the time on Earth he was here, he spent much of his time doing what he really loved.

He will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his parents Robert and Pauline Power of Fall River, Nova Scotia; sisters Mary Ellen Power (Ben) of Laval, Quebec, Anne Power (Tim) of Nepean, Ontario,   Janet Power (Justin) of Wellington, Nova Scotia; his nieces and nephews James, Alexandra, Mathieu, Sophie, Charlotte and Greta as well as his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
