Bruce, Arnold and families
It is with fond memories of Ron, as an awesome neighbor and friend on Dalroy Crescent, that we send this note.
We have had some good chats and laughs over the years as we watched children grow up and neighbors come and go.
He was a gentle, sincere man with so many great stories from his life experiences.
Always a pleasure to share happy hour or a walk around the block or a chat as he walked by.
Our 'kids' also have fond memories of 'Ronnie' from our 34 years sharing Dalroy.
We were lucky to know him.
Warmest Regards
Barb and Bernie McKenna

Arnold, Bruce and families. Your father was very special man in my life. From my teenage years to current day, he was a constant source of strength and often times my true north. I remember with fondness many hours at his kitchen table discussing current events or my latest adventures. And at times when I was off course- he listened- without judgement. I thought of him as my second dad and I will always be grateful for our friendship. His passing leaves a hole in my heart but I take comfort that he is with your mom, whom he loved with his heart and soul. RIP my dear friend until we meet again. Love Kristin Duff

I first met Ron at CP Rail as I joined Calgary division in 1971. We bonded through our Nordic Scandanavian backgrounds. I was new at working in a large company and needed some time to time guidance. Ron was always there with a helpful suggestion as to how to handle things. He was always so upbeat and generally happy to talk it was always a pleasure to see him. We got into a short bout of teasing each other. I one day wore my purplish bell bottoms to the office. Ton came over and said he hadn't seen these pants since the navy in WW II. I just said they were about as wild as my attire would get as the sixties flower people era was just closing. a few days later I wore my only paisley shirt. so he came by again and asked if my clothes were going to continue in this flower child epic. I said he'd seen all of it now. He told me both were permissible at the office but a suit and tie would also be acceptable. I bought my first suit a week later and wore a suit and tie for both years I was at CP. He was a wonderful friend and part time mentor in my first year of engineering practice. I even learned a few signals and electrical things which he considered absolute necessary for any railroader. Ron was a great fellow in so many senses of the words. I think of him often when I'm presented with a difficult issue at work. All I have to do is say to myself, what would Ton advise here and I automatically fly back 40 years and can hear his advise in my mind. and his laugh as we concluded our discussion. Please advise when you will have his celebration of Life as I would appreciate the opportunity to hear people speak about him. He was a fine gentleman.
