Obituary of Wilma "Willie" Leila Bruce (nee Deines)

Willie Bruce, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 91.

 

Willie is survived by her son Danny (Janice) Blunden; daughter Vicki (Dan) Wearmouth; grandchildren Amanda Blunden, Jackie (William) Medeiros and Melissa Blunden ; great granddaughter, Marin Foley; brother, Alvin Deines; and sisters, Eleanor Allen, Norma Johnstone, Lois Shelley and Verna Petrie.

 

Willie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman Bruce; granddaughter, Jennifer Blunden; brothers, Clarence, Arnold, Arthur and Lloyd Deines; sister, Dorothy Stuckert; and her parents, Rena and Jack Deines.

 

An avid sports fan, Willie could be found on the golf course or curling rink, and later in life, cheering on or critiquing the pros from the comfort of her living room. A true Calgarian, Willie loved Peter’s Drive In, pancake breakfasts, the chuck wagon races, and was known for her annual Stampede Parade bbqs.

 

We’ll miss her quick wit and strong willed demeanour, as well as her tendency to tell you exactly what she was thinking - regardless of who was in ear shot.
