Obituary of Antoinette Wobma
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Nettie Wobma. She passed away peacefully of natural causes at 87 years of age surrounded by her loving family.
Nettie was born in the Netherlands and moved to Calgary in her twenties, where she lived for the rest of her life. She loved Calgary and always said that moving here was the best thing she ever did.
Nettie had a love for life, loved to play cards, loved to play Bingo and go to the Casino, and was an avid sports fan, especially curling, baseball, bowling, and soccer. She made friends easily wherever she went and was always warmly greeted by many friends at the Bingo or at social gatherings. She used to love knitting and making sweaters for the family, especially new family members. It was her way of welcoming them. She had an outgoing personality, a quick wit, and would light up family get-togethers or when visiting. Family meant everything to her. She had a heart of gold and we were all blessed to have had her in our lives.
She is survived by son Paul (Cheryl) Wobma; her daughters Margie (Lonnie) Matthews and Janie (Brent) Denoncourt; she is also survived by her four grandchildren, Thomas (Brittany) Matthews, Holly Wobma, Kendra (Matt) Wobma-Cortez, Matthew Larsen; and by her two great-grandchildren, Linden and Myles Matthews as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends in the Netherlands. She will be lovingly remembered by all that knew her and will be so deeply missed.
She is predeceased by her husband Cor Wobma of 54 years; parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
We would like to thank Doctor Bhatia and the staff at Age Care SkyPointe and Agape Hospice for the loving care they provided for our Mom.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Agapé Hospice, 1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1B8 Telephone: (403) 282-6588. agapehospice.ca in memory of Antoinette Wobma.
