Obituary of Elsie Ann Vinje

Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden peaceful passing of Elsie, our loving and devoted mother and grandmother, after a sudden illness.  She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

Elsie was born and raised in Calgary.  She was educated at Saint Mary’s Girl’s School.  After completing her schooling Elsie worked various jobs throughout her young life. She worked as an Usherette at the Grand Theater, a clerical worker at a poultry farm, a retail sales worker at the Hudson Bay Company and a clothing model for department stores. In later years she worked in a woodwork shop and provided childcare for her grandchildren.

Most of all Elsie was a dedicated mother and especially loved her role as Nana. She was a great cook and cooked for all.  She enjoyed cleaning, gardening and crocheting.  Elsie was an avid reader and was up to date, enlightened and extremely well informed in new developments on all things and shared this knowledge with her family.  Elsie loved to drive and had many adventures doing so; we will all remember when “the deer hit her” incident.  She will be missed.

Elsie is survived by her daughter Karen (Rick), her son Ken (Donna), Grandchildren Greg, Joey, Jack, and Sam.  She is also survived by her sister Annie, Step Granddaughter Janene and her son Nolan, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband Murray, Grandson Daryl, Sisters Cecile (George), Margie (Norm), Mary and brother-in-law Ken.

Loving and kind in all her ways,

Upright and just to the end of her days:

Sincere and true, in her heart and mind,

Beautiful memories she left behind.
