Obituary of Margery Ruth KERSLAKE

Please share a memory of Margery to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margery “Ruth” Kerslake, 88, of Calgary passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in her home.

Ruth was born July 2, 1932 in Saskatoon, SK. It was there that she met Bob, the love of her life. They were married in October 1952. Together they raised their family in Saskatoon.

Ruth was a homemaker, until her children finished high school. She then went to work at Canadiana Automotive and later Midtown Optical, where she made many good friends.

In 2017, mom moved to Calgary to be near her family. She was very happy with her new friends, enjoying music, events and many bus trips around Calgary while living at Boardwalk Retirement Community and later at St. Marguerite Manor. We loved having her with us in Calgary. Ruth was a kind, happy person who loved her family and enjoyed going with them on picnics to Pike Lake as well as numerous camping trips throughout Western Canada. She loved the outdoors, going for walks, going for drives in the country and Mother’s Day picnics. Ruth and Bob enjoyed 19 wonderful summers at their summer home at Emma Lake. In retirement, Ruth and Bob travelled to Canmore every Thanksgiving weekend for a getaway with their family. Family was very important to Ruth. She had a special sense of humor. She loved baking and everyone especially enjoyed her famous chocolate chip cookies and hash brown casserole. Mom had a great love of music, playing her organ at family sings songs.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son Rick (Angie), daughter Nancy (Gerald), brother Terry (Maxine), grandchildren Bradie (Brendon), Jasmine (Mark), Kirsten (Sean) and Christopher (Morgan) and great-grandchildren Annie, Casey, Ben and Claire.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Bob, parents Tom and Vernice, brother Don and sister in-law Doris, grandson Dustin, and granddaughter Angie.

Her family is especially grateful to the staff of St. Marguerite Manor for the loving care they gave her in her final two years.

A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
