Died at Calgary on May 27, 2013. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1927, Ed was predeceased by Lois, his wife and very best friend for sixty-two great years. Ed is survived by his children Russell (Marie) and Brenda (Greg), and four much loved grandchildren, Shannon, Kelly, Danielle and Jonah. Ed was also survived by a sister Anne and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents E.T. and Rosetta Marshall, his brothers Jim and Harry, and a dear granddaughter Carmel Urton. Ed was a graduate of the Olds School of Agriculture and the University of Alberta (B.Sc. 1951, Agriculture). He was a member of the Phi Kappa Pi Fraternity and a former member of Lodge Renfrew (Masons) and the Al Azhar Temple Shriners. He earned his Canadian Army Commission as a Lieutenant, R.C.A.S.C. at Camp Borden, Ontario in 1951. Ed was a director of the Heritage Park Society for eighteen years and served as President in 1966 & 1967. He operated his own businesses for many years and in 1978 became the first Managing Director of Kananaskis Country, resigning from this position in 1990. His happiest times were those spent with his family and friends at the family home, outings in Kananaskis Country, and for over fifty years at the Sylvan Lake cottage. A private service will be held.
