Obituary of Ranjan Banerjee

Please share a memory of Ranjan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The call came suddenly, and he went back home to his Maker. Ranjan (Ranju) Banerjee of High River, AB, passed away in the early hours of August 4, 2021, at the age of 62 years.

Ranjan was born June 20, 1959, in Jamshedpur, India. He will live in the memories of his loved ones forever. Ranjan lived by example, a real gentleman who was always polite, sincere and caring. Almost all conversations ended with Ranjan making sure everyone was well in the family.

He followed the principle of speak no evil, a high standard he maintained throughout his life. I often wondered what metal Ranjan was made of. How could someone be calm and good-natured all the time? He was quiet but a nod, a smile or a wave spoke volumes about his feelings for others.

Even though he had health issues, he was positive and found joy in music, painting, yummy food and sports, primarily soccer. Surely, there was a celebration in heaven with newcomer Ranjan organizing a party after the Canadian women’s soccer team won gold in the recent Tokyo Olympics!

Ranjan is survived by his elder sister Dipti Chakravorty, brother-in-law Dipten Chakravorty, niece Annisha Chakravorty, nephew Rahul Chakravorty and his partner Rachel Johnson and their baby Amari Chakravorty of Calgary. Ranjan is also survived by aunt Lali Mukherjee and friend Susan Scott of Calgary as well as numerous relatives in India.

Ranjan was predeceased by his father Amiya Ranjan Banerjee and mother Nihar Kana Banerjee.

Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street NW, (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.   Reception to follow at the funeral home.  Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
