Obituary of Gary Melbourne McRae

Gary Melbourne McRae passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the age of 76.

 

Gary was born on November 10, 1944, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and was the only child of Allen Ted McRae and Eileen Avril Buckley. He grew up in his beloved Hope Town, Quebec, in the Gaspe region.

 

Gary married his eternal sweetheart, Carole Ernestine Burling and together, they were loving, supportive, dedicated parents to their six daughters, Alana, Donna, Darleen, Dawn, Cynthia, and Cali as well as their devoted sons in law. He is a grandfather to twenty-five and great-grandfather to Seventeen.

 

Gary spent many years working at Digital Equipment Corp and after his retirement, moved back to his childhood home of Hope Town, where he spent precious time with his wife and pets. He was elected mayor of Hope Town and loved serving his community.

 

Gary and Carole spent eighteen months on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cote d’Ivoire, Africa and found joy in serving the people of that nation.

 

Gary is pre-deceased by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his loving daughters and their families.

 

A private family memorial will be held.
