Our hearts are filled with sadness as we share the news that our beloved Jasbir Kaur Chandna has passed away. There is solace in knowing that she will now be with her late father Mohinder Singh Arora and brother Arvinder Pal Singh Arora. Jasbir Kaur is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mehar Singh Chandna, with whom she built a life of hard work, community service, and compassion for family and friends. Her greatest source of pride was her children; her son Mandeep Singh and his wife Manmeet Kaur, and her daughter Ameet Kaur and her husband Gurjeet Singh Kooner. She is also survived by her granddaughter Sanaa Kaur, who held a special place in her heart and gave Jasbir Kaur cherished moments of happiness, joy, and courage over the past year. Jasbir Kaur leaves behind her mother Kanwaljit Kaur, brothers Narinder Singh and Harpreet Singh and her sister Amtesh Kaur Wadhwa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will always remember her for the love and affection she shared with them. Born on September 22, 1948 in Ludhiana, Punjab, Jasbir Kaur married Mehar Singh on March 11, 1974. A few months later she arrived in Canada, making Calgary their home. Over the last 40 years Jasbir Kaur was the foundation of their successful business, starting with Bombay Jewellers and then Koh-i-noor Jewellers. Through the business she shared in the important milestones of countless families who were always met by Jasbir’s warm smile and kind nature. It is these attributes of hers that led her to create lifelong friendships with so many, recognizing that kindness is the brightest jewel that one can wear. Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4 Street N.W. (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Prayer services will follow at Guru Ram Das Darbar, 5228 84 Street N.E.
