Obituary of Drahomira Hojda
Drahomira (Mira) Hojda, beloved wife of the late Vaclav (Vance) Hojda of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday December 17, 2021, at the age of 75.
Mira immigrated to Canada in December of 1968. As a new immigrant and young mother, she surmounted many challenges which is a testament to her incredible strength. She learned a new language, went back to school, gained a technical diploma, and worked tirelessly to secure a future for her family. Alongside her husband, they built a wonderful life filled with fun, laughter, and friendship.
Mira embraced life, she loved so many different things, getting lost in a book, sudoku puzzles, camping, skiing, but most of all, spending time with her immediate and extended families. She loved to travel and would often hop on a plane at short notice to join family or friends on an international adventure.
She will be remembered most for her strength, loyal friendship, unconditional love, ability to make people laugh, her brilliant smile, and most of all, her amazing hugs.
Mira will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sarka, granddaughters Sadie and Gabby, her sister in-law Kája, and her god-daughter Michelle. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless life-long friends.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street NW, (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on December 30, 2021, at 11am. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Please forward condolences through www.calgarycrematorium.com
A Funeral Service will be held, on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11 am. Family and friends are invited to join Mrs. Hojda’s service streamed live on the day of the service.
