Chandrakant “Mike” Laljee Shingadia beloved husband of Janki Shingadia of Calgary, passed away on May 19, 2014 at the age of 69 years. Born in Zimbabwe, educated in India, he immigrated to Canada in 1969. Besides facing the challenges of diabetes with courage over many years, Chandrakant had a passion for absorbing himself in the many books he read. Always one for conversation, he enjoyed discussing everything from current events to politics to the daily activities in everyone's life. Never the one to let life pass him by, he embraced the computer by taking accounting courses and keeping in touch with family and friends through email despite his visual impairments. He was an enthusiastic story teller and inspired those he met to live life to the fullest. Mike is survived by wife Janki Shingadia of 42 years; his children Manisha Shingadia (Russell Reichart) and Neel C. Shingadia; brothers Ashwin (Dorothy Phillips) and Raghu (the late Joyce).
