So very sorry to hear of John's passing. We weren't aware until a few days ago. John was our across the street neighbour for 30 years, we'd share many laughs and stories over the years. He was so proud of his heritage and football days. He loved his little garden and flowers giving us carrots and lettuce. A life well lived we'd say! Peggy and Daryl Wittrock

My condolences to John's family and friends.
I have fond memories of Mr. McLaren trying to instill some common sense into us rowdy teenagers. Mike and I could always find refuge at John's house, as it was located between where we lived (Brentwood) and the adventures we'd get into on our bikes. He would admonish us, but always encourage us to have fun and explore. Proud of his heritage, he'd recite Robbie Burns to misunderstanding ears, our ignorance not lost on him.
Unfortunately, as time went on, I lost contact with him, there was a lot we could have reminisced about.
Rest in peace Mr. McLaren
