It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Torgerson beloved wife of Hjalmar Torgerson of Airdrie, Alberta on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 93 years. She passed away peacefully at the Santuari Hospice at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. With grace and courage she fought a brief battle with cancer .
Mary was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on December 8, 1920 and grew up in a small farming community near Insinger, Saskatchewan. Fondly known as "Mimi" to her family, she was truly an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Her love of life and positive outlook is how she will be lovingly remembered. Her absolute joy in life was her family and especially her two granddaughters.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her dear family ; husband, Hjalmar Torgerson; daughter, Amy (John) Loader of Calgary, son, Larry Torgerson of Airdrie, Alberta; her two loving granddaughters, Alicia Loader and Lyndsey Loader of Calgary; sister, Della Polowick; brothers Ed and Rick Melnychuk as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents and six siblings.
