Kornel Szarmes beloved husband of Doreen Szarmes of Calgary and formerly of Kelowna and Trail, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
Kornel was born October 24, 1927 in Szombathely, Hungary. He immigrated to Canada in 1956. Kornel married Doreen Crowe in 1958. Kornel worked for many years as a Research Chemist with Cominco Ltd (Teck Resources Limited) in Trail before retiring in Sorrento/Shuswap Lake, his favorite family vacation spot.
Kornel is survived by his loving wife, Doreen; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Lori of Orangeville, ON., Eric and Charlotte of Honolulu, Hawaii and Michael Szarmes of Calgary; grandchildren, Meghan (Tristan), Alyssa (Joel), Colin, Christine and Duncan as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 16th Avenue N.W. (across from the North Hill Shopping Centre, Calgary) on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
