Obituary of Norman SPROULE

Norman Sproule beloved husband of Isobel Sproule of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the age of 94 years.
Norman was born and raised in the Elbow Park Area in Calgary, attending Western Canada High School. Following his education, Norman attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton. After two years of schooling, Norman enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served his country until returning to his education where he achieved his degree as a pharmacist. On August 29, 1946, Norman married the true love of his life, Isobel at Scarboro United Church and they began their home in Calgary. Norman worked alongside and built his career with his father at Sproule Drugs and later Norman purchased and operated Shipley Drug until his retirement in 1986 at the age of 68. Norman had many passions including amateur radio(VE6AQH), photography, reading and learning history and travelling (especially to London). Norman was also a devoted member of Scarboro United Church, Masons and enjoyed his weekly get together with friends and collegues at the local McDonalds for coffee. His greatest love was his family, he was very proud of all his childrens and grandchildrens accomplishments and will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Isobel; son, Dale (Gina) Sproule of Calgary; daughters, Jane Lavoie of Edmonton, AB and Laura(Rob) Smith of Delta, BC; grandchildren, Cheryl, Shawn, Jennifer and Katherine as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Rimmer in 1995.
A Memorial Service will be held at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W.) on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Burnsland Cemetery at a later date. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
