Obituary of Ramona Hanson

Ramona Hanson of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the age of 89 years.
Ramona was born in Medicine Hat, AB, and spent her early years near Etzikom, AB. In 1946, her mother and two sisters moved to Blackie, where she completed her schooling. In 1952, she worked as a telephone operator in High River, AB. It was here where she met and married the love of her life, Herb Hanson. Herb and Ramona lived forty-four years together in Calgary, and had one daughter, LeMoine. Ramona worked at Shell Canada as a file clerk and retired after twenty years in 1991. After which she spent most of her winters in Hemet, California. Ramona was always busy with crafts, including crocheting, painting, needlepoint, beading, and paper tole. She also participated in many sports. In addition to being a longtime member of the Turner Valley Golf Club, she enjoyed darts, bowling, curling, and shuffle boarding. She was also very proud of her sixty-seven years as a member of the ANAVETS Calgary Ladies Auxiliary.
Ramona was a very social person and made many friends through her various activities. She had a special ability for hosting friends and family, after sports events and special occasions. Ramona will be remembered for her kind and generous nature, and her sense of humour.
Ramona is survived by her daughter LeMoine Philp, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ramona was predeceased by her husband Herb Hanson, son-in-law Jim Philp, parents, Edwin, and Pearl Stromsmoe; brothers, Arnold, Mylo, DeMoine, and Gerald; and her sisters, Sandy, Marie, Lois, Lavon, and Olga.
