Cliff and Joanne Demetrick posted a condolence

Of course we are reminded of Jack every time we drive by his house on the way out of the Cul-de-sac and see the Little Dutch Library which he built and the blades of the Windmill no longer turning .
We met and became friends shortly after embarking on our working careers , and remained close friends throughout our lives . The many camping trips together when the kids were young always included educational hikes with Jack delving into geology of the rocks , history of the area , identifying bird species , animal habitat and so on . He was an encyclopedia of knowledge on most anything you wanted to talk about .
We shared long discussions about our business ventures , rejoiced in each others successes , and propped each other up during our failures . Despite his health issues he had endless energy , a thirst for knowledge , and didn’t know the word quit . Somehow he maintained a good balance between work , family time , and recreation .
Our two and his three children were about the same age and always got along well ( as far as we know ) . At any rate we seldom had to settle or referee disagreements . It made our job easier when they were playing and we could relax playing cards , or just talking and drinking . One night this went on until midnight , then we went to bed in the tent and they retired to the RV . Suddenly there was a big racket outside , the table was still loaded with dinner dishes and here it was the base for one of the beds in the RV ! We sure laughed about that .
Although he had travelled the world , did business in many Countries , enjoyed vacations in exotic places , his favourite place was Alberta . He wanted to preserve in Alberta some key habitat for Plants and Wildlife and was instrumental in establishing the Western Sky Land Trust . Subsequently many others have also committed Land to the Trust and it is an ongoing entity that will insure preservation and conservation of Land , Plant and Wildlife in perpetuity .
We are honoured to have been Jack's friend and our lives were enriched because of it .
Affectionately : Cliff & Joanne Demetrick

I would like to offer my sympathy to all of Jack’s family.
Jack was a remarkable person, with an incredible range of accomplishments. His product development skills and international approach to business put him years ahead of his time.
And yet he was always humble and very kind to all.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Mike Tims, Calgary

Jack and Jackie Nodwell were great boosters of our western natural landscapes, particularly near riparian (river fronting) areas. Theirs was one of the first major land donations to Western Sky Land Trust, about 20 years ago, fronting on the Bow River near Carseland. Jack remained a steady promoter of Western Sky. Curiously, one of my early duties was driving an old Flextrac Nodwell general purpose tracked vehicle at Fortress Mountain ski hill in 1974. I could barely drive a manual car at 18, but the Nodwell had a gas pedal and a stick for each of the left and right tracks. You could turn on a dime! R.I.P. Jack Nodwell!

So sorry to hear this news and thinking of you, Carla, Brian and Keith; and Jackie and the Falconers in this very difficult time.
I remember your dad fondly growing up in Rosedale and he always seemed to me to be both patient and good humored.
Regards,
Christine (Gowans) Gillespie

My contact with Jack was while I coordinated crews on McHugh Bluff, doing cleanups and pulling invasive weeds. Jack came out regularly. It was his contribution to the Rosedale community. Such a pleasant and hardworking man. Best wishes to the family.
