Obituary of Alexander Hnatuk

Please share a memory of Alexander to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

August 6, 1924 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

February 7, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Alex passed away in Calgary, AB, with family at his side, at the age of 98 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Thelma Rose (nee Parenteau) in 2011.

He leaves to mourn his daughter, Gerry and son-in-law David Diehl; sons, Richard and Malcolm all from Calgary, granddaughter Charlene Pelletier-Schulhauser (Ryan); great-granddaughters Isabelle, and Julia from Saskatoon. He is also survived by his “Calgary tribe”; and in-laws, Wilfred and Marilyn Parenteau, Douglas and Bonnie Parenteau, Gillian Iddiols, Ed Phaneuf, Kathleen Zolinsky, Christine and Tom Wunderlich; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews spread across Canada.

Alex will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor, who loved to teach the younger generation the good foods to eat; donuts, cheezies, pizza, diet coke, peanut butter sandwiches, and definitely no “rabbit food”. He loved to play cards and enjoyed trips to the Casino. He was the last survivor of a family of fourteen.

The family gratefully acknowledges the care he received from the 4th floor staff and the Doctors at Carewest-George Boyack for the past four years.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Calgary in the summer.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
