Obituary of Deb Bahadur Tamang

Deb Tamang passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 in Calgary, AB at the age of 70 years.
Deb was born on November 25, 1952 in Therthum, Nepal, and moved to Calgary, AB in 2006. In 1970, Deb was enlisted in the British Army, where he served fifteen years in The Brigade of Gurkhas (10GR), and nine years in the Gurkha Reserve Unit (GRU) and served in Cyprus and Iraq for some time as well. After moving to Canada, Deb worked for fourteen years and retired in 2021.
Deb was a life member of the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC), and in 2016, he became one of the founders and President of Tamang Community Canada (TCC) where he continuously contributed towards uniting individuals and families together through cultural awareness within his community.
Deb had been married to his wife, Buddhi Maya Tamang, for fifty years with four children, Jayanti Ghising, Shiva Tamang, Manika Ghising, and Mamata Ghising, and five grandchildren, Monica Tamang, Noah Mercado, Elena Golay, Naomi Mercado, and Yogen Golay.
Deb was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and remained brave, even throughout his final weeks.
Deb was always happy to be spending quality time with family and friends and created lots of memorable moments with them. He will truly be missed in so many ways and will be forever remembered.
