Obituary of Manjeet Chahal

Manjeet Chahal beloved wife of Gurbuksh Singh Chahal of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 84 years.
Manjeet was born in Punjab, India on Jan 1, 1939. Her mom and dad passed away at a young age. Manjeet saw hardship from her early years. Manjeet with her siblings took care of the house, farming, and grandmother.
Manjeet married Gurbuksh Chahal in 1960. She was a housewife and helped on farms and worked very hard to build her house. Manjeet had three children, Jagjeet, Jasvir, and Dalveer.
Even though Manjeet did not have an education, she was very passionate about the importance of it . She encouraged her children to get a good education and worked hard with them. As a result, her son received a PhD and her daughter received Masters’s degree.
Manjeet was the backbone of the family. She was spiritual and taught the same to her children. Manjeet had strong willpower, she battled Tuberculosis forty years ago when her chances of surviving were slim.
Besides her loving husband, Manjeet is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jasvir and Darshan Sidhu of Calgary, AB, Dalveer and Gurtej Toor of Punjab, India; one son and daughter-in-law, Jagjeet and Tejinder Chahal of Calgary AB; five grandchildren, Ranyodh and Manpreet Chahal, Ramandeep and Isher sidhu and Dharmveer Toor, of Calgary AB; and four great-grandchildren, Ekasveer and Elahi Chahal and Manat and Jasveen Sekhon. Manjeet is also survived by eight nephews and nieces and their spouse and their children and grandchildren.
Manjeet was predeceased by four brothers and one sister-in-law and one sister and brother-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held at Calgary Crematorium Chapel, (3219 – 4th Street NW, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on May 21. 2023 at 1-3 pm.
