Josephine Graham, 90, a long-time resident of Highwood in NW Calgary, passed away on July 24, 2023.

Jo was born on March 7, 1933, to Magdelena Uhrich and Joseph Denis in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. In 1941, the family moved to Taber, AB.

After graduating from high school, Jo began working as a cashier at Safeway Canada. She was soon promoted to the personnel department and spent many years training other cashiers. Later she moved to pricing.  Jo began working for Safeway in her late teens, and retired in 1989, enjoying a career of almost 40 years with Safeway Canada.

In the late 1960s, Jo married David Graham. They enjoyed many happy years together, particularly after Jo retired.

After her retirement, Jo was also able to spend time sewing, quilting and doing the needlepointing she loved.  She spent many hours tending her large and beautiful yard of which she was very proud. Jo was a member of the CWL at her church, and was generous in the time she spent helping many friends less mobile than herself shop for groceries and attend appointments.

Jo was predeceased by her husband Dave, and five of her siblings, Kay, Adam, Willy, Frank and Jim. She is survived by brothers Ben and Tom, and sister Martha. Jo is also survived by twenty-one nieces and nephews, and she has numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 640 19 Ave NW Calgary, AB T2M 0Y8  on Saturday, August, 19, 2023 at 11:00 am.

Jo’s family wishes to thank the Rising Sun Nursing Home where Jo was a resident during the past few months. Although she did not live there for long, Jo spent many contented hours at the Rising Sun, visiting with other residents as she worked on puzzles, and watched deer grazing nearby. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
