Obituary of Barbara Ann Millham

Barbara, the beloved wife of Dwayne passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on August 13, 2023 at the age of 75 years.

 

Besides her loving husband Dwayne, Barbara is survived by her sister Joanne Murphy, niece Kelly Murphy (Rob Allendorf) and her adopted Hayden family, Michelle, Greg, Ben, and Tyler. She was predeceased by her brother Norman (Skip) McDonald and her parents Doug and Betty (Gallelli) McDonald.

 

Barbara had a long career as an elementary school teacher in the Calgary Catholic School System and she and Dwayne spent three years teaching on the Canadian Military Base in Lahr, Germany. During that period, they travelled extensively in Europe and the Middle East. But that wasn’t the extent of her world travels which started at the age of 18 and continued throughout most of her life particularly after she and Dwayne returned from Germany and explored the world together.

 

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on Unit 81 of the Rockyview Hospital who kept Barbara as comfortable as possible and Dr. Ritchie the hospitalist who was extremely kind and forthright.  We would also like to thank her close friends Michelle Hayden and Cathy Foreman and her cousin Adriana Gallelli who sat vigil shifts and the volunteers of NODA who sat the long nights. She was never alone during those final days.
