Obituary of Laura JARRETT

Laura passed away peacefully at the Edgemont Retirement Residence surrounded by her family on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Throughout Laura’s life she was a great sportswoman who enjoyed playing softball, curling, bowling, golf, as well as going to the Calgary Stampeders games. She enjoyed bridge and playing cards with her friends, but her greatest love was ballroom dancing at various venues around Calgary such as at Confederation Park and Thursday nights at the Edgemont. Laura was survived by her three daughters Karen (Bob), Wendy (Jim), Kathie (Rick); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother Dag (Irene); many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband “Tubby,” father Louis, mother Ellen, brothers Harold, Leonard, Robert and sister Florence. Private Service will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, August 22, 2014 (private) with reception for friends and family to follow at 3:00pm. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Leukemia Society, 2020 – 10th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2M 3M2. We wish to thank all the staff at the Edgemont for their compassion making Laura’s final days so comfortable.
