Obituary of Howard Swanney

Howard Melvin Swanney passed away peacefully and with dignity on August 1st, 2014 at the age of 83 years. He leaves behind his wife Sharon, son Terry, daughter-in-law Lois, and his beloved grandsons Sean and Bradshaw. Born in Bredenbury SK, Howard worked at the Canadian Postal Service for 27 years, first in Edmonton then accepting a posting to Ottawa in 1965 and living there, raising his family until his return to his beloved Alberta in 1986. A kind and giving man, Howard volunteered his time and energy for many hours to Calgary Parks and Recreation and for more than 15 years to the Calgary Inter-faith Food Bank. Howard loved fishing, the mountains, golf, curling, and his time spent with his grandsons, the pride and joy of his later life. An honest man, Howard lived life well and through his ever lasting memory shall be carried forth by all he knew. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. At Howard’s request no funeral services will be held.
