Obituary of Violet LAWRENCE

Violet passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on August 30, 2014 at the age of 100 years. Born in Finchley, London, England, Violet came to Canada in 1951 and began working at the Calgary General Hospital, where she finished her working career as the head nurse of the surgical suite. She then began a second career as a volunteer at Meals on Wheels as well as a number of other volunteer positions. She will be greatly missed by all her friends. Violet is lovingly remembered by nieces Gillian MacLeod, Zoë Hansen, and Janet Hansen; nephews Philip Lawrence (Van) and Mark Hansen (Marcia); and great-nieces and nephews Rachel, Emma, Stephen, Ian, Dan, and Adam. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen (1981) and her sister Gladys Irene (Rene, 2013). A Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 3704 37 Street SW, Calgary, at 2:00 pm on Monday September 8, 2014.
