Frank Farkas (Dad/Grandpa), passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, on Wednesday March 9, 2011, at the age of 80 years. Frank was born in Andrasfalva, Bukovina (Romania) on September 18, 1930 and was the oldest sibling among the nine children of Lajos and Erzsebet (nee Sebestyen) Farkas. Dad left his home in Hungary and immigrated to Canada between 1956 1957. Frank is survived by seven remaining siblings, all residing in, or near Dads home town of Kakasd, Hungary; sisters: Ersebet, Maria, Emma and Gizella; and his brothers: Imra, Istvan and Anton. Dads courage, will, work ethic and strong devotion were great sources of inspiration for his two surviving sons Vincent Louis, and Raymond Francis (Estrella). Grandpa was also blessed with five wonderful grandchildren: Sebastian Joseph, Zachary Lajos (son Vince), Alec, Lila and Liam (son Ray), whom he treasured and loved deeply. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Anna. He will always be remembered, and deeply missed by all his caring family and friends. Dad, may you rest in peace, now and always. Prayers were held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4 Street N.W. (within the valley of Queens Park Cemetery), on Monday March 14, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4 Street N.W., on Tuesday March 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed in Queens Park Cemetery.
