Obituary of Adriaantje GELDERBLOM

Audrey Gelderblom of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the age of 88 years. Audrey was born in Rotterham, The Netherlands on August 28, 1922. The youngest of ten children, she immigrated to Calgary in 1955 with her eldest sister, Wilma. Audrey worked for many years in the laboratory of the Calgary General Hospital, until her retirement. Audrey traveled throughout Europe and also to Hawaii and Mexico. She very much enjoyed taking cruises. Audrey worked very hard in her community, volunteering her time and talents with many seniors. For this hard work she received about thirteen Certificates of Appreciation from various groups such as the Bowness Seniors Assistance Association and the Bowness Seniors Citizen Club. In her spare time Audrey enjoyed dancing, going to the casino, playing bingo and handcrafts. She always loved a good party and dearly loved her family. Audrey is survived by her many nieces, nephews and their families, as well as numerous friends. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Gerret, Bas, Arie, Piet, Inge, Schalk, Wim, Wilhelmina and Cornelia. At Audreys request, no Funeral Service will be held. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the A.L.S. Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories (Lou Gehrigs Disease), Suite 250, 4723 1 Street S.W., Calgary, AB T2G 4Y8. The family would like to thank the Drs, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Beverley Care Centre for their friendship and compassionate care to Audrey over the past six years.
