Obituary of Daniel Green
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Long-time Calgary resident Daniel Green, an avid scuba diver, lover of fast cars and inveterate clothes horse, died suddenly May 27, 2011 while vacationing near Cancun, Mexico; having lived his last few days to the fullest with loving friends. A kind and soft-hearted soul, he was just 47 years young. Those whose lives he touched miss Dan dearly, especially his mother, Lesley, and his sole surviving sibling and older brother, Nick.
Daniel was born February 29, 1964 just outside London, England to John and Lesley Green, the youngest of four children. He grew up in Norwich, England, immigrating to Canada in 1977 with his mother and elder brother. He graduated from Mount Royal College in 1991 with a degree in business administration. Daniel started his involvement in property management when he became the resident manager of an apartment building in Calgary. Property management became a career and he rose to become a senior property manager at Ronmor Holdings. Known as Dapper Dan for his sharp dress sense, he played soccer virtually his entire life and ran two marathons. Never happier than when working with his hands, Daniel was a perfectionist who enjoyed renovating his Calgary home and working on automobiles, especially Fords. Daniel scoured North America for a vintage Lotus, a classic marquee he grew to love growing up close to the factory in England. He eventually purchased a 1979 Lotus Esprit, doting on it like a loving father and revelling in fast drives on Alberta highways that wowed his passengers. In addition to his mother and brother, survivors include two nephews, Robert and Justin Ouellette; aunt Beryl Moody; cousins and loyal friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Sharon Ouellette, a brother Robert, and his father.
A Private Memorial Service was held in Calgary. All who loved Dan are welcome to attend to share fond memories and toast the loss of a man who died before his time.
