It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Carmen Hanssen announce her peaceful passing on May 6, 2011 at age 84, after a brief but forceful encounter with cancer. Carmen is survived by her daughter, Rose; her brother, Benito, her friend and companion of 17 years, Gordon Young, all of Calgary. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; many nephews; nieces; wonderful friends and in-laws living in Alberta, B.C., USA, Germany and Italy. Carmen was predeceased by her parents, husband and one brother. Prayer Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. and Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 204 6A Street N.E., Calgary. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice. Her family and friends would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to all the staff, especially the Nurses and Doctors, on Unit 84 of the Rockyview General Hospital for their unwavering support and wonderful care.
