Obituary of Marion MILLER

Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis passed away peacefully in her sleep on her 83rd birthday, December 28th, after contending with Alzheimers disease in recent years. She was the eldest daughter of Ellis and Elsie Larracey, of Moncton, N.B. Phyllis married Warrant Officer II, Warren (Dusty) Miller in 1948. The family lived on numerous RCAF bases until 1961, when they retired to Calgary. Being part of Canadas military culture was an important part of Phyllis life and a source of great pride for her. Phyllis taught business courses, worked as an executive secretary/assistant to Senator E. Hastings and later to the President of the newly formed Canadian Natural Resources, when it was only a three-man company. Phyllis loved Calgary and volunteered with numerous social service agencies, including CUPS where, for many years, she enjoyed making hundreds of bows for CUPS Christmas Wreaths fundraising event. In 2004, Phyllis moved to the Cochrane area and eventually resided at Big Hill Lodge, where she met new friends and was well cared for. In March 2009, Phyllis moved to Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary where she was also lovingly attended to. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, most of her siblings and her husband, Dusty. She is survived by her children Susan (Neil) Davies, Peter Miller, and Bob (Sheila) Miller, and her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Eileen (Austin) Malone of Fredericton, N.B. and her adopted brother, Norman (Sharon) of Moncton, N.B., as well as many nieces and nephews. Phyllis will be remembered for her sparkling personality, sharp wit, independent spirit and endless support and encouragement to others. Her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband Dusty, in the Field of Honour at Queens Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Phyllis Life was held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queens Park Cemetery) on Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. HERITAGE FUNERAL SERVICES Calgary Crematorium Chapel Telephone: (403) 299-0111
