Obituary of Betty PEAKE

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Peake of Calgary, passed away on September 16, 2010 at the age of 91 years, of natural causes. She was born in Regina in 1919 and married her high school sweetheart, Flight Lieutenant Jack Peake, D.F.C. in June 1942. Following the wedding, the couple served in the war; Jack with the RCAF flying bombers and Betty working at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC. Reunited post-war, they returned to Regina and enjoyed fifty wonderful years together; raising their family of three children. Following Jacks retirement they moved to Calgary. We often teased Betty that she was the inspiration for Martha Stewart. She loved to cook, decorate and create, with her favourite times hosting family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Bart and Gail of Calgary and son and daughter-in-law Bill and Donna of Regina;grandchildren: John, Ross, Matthew and Kathryn; and many friends and relatives. Bettys zest for life touched them all. Betty was predeceased by Jack in 1992, daughter Janice in 1967 and brother Bill Atkinson in 1968. Her family was her life. Betty will be laid to rest with Jack in Regina, their childhood home. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Unit 81 at the Foothills Medical Centre for their exceptional care of their mom. Her passing was peaceful and for that we are truly thankful. She will be forever missed.
