Bill Randall of Halifax, Nova Scotia and formerly of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the age of 94 years. Bill was born on August 28, 1917 in Calgary, AB. Bill was a graduate of Crescent Heights High School, he served in World War II, he then established NorthWest Printing and Lithographing, a successful printing business until retiring in 1984. A lifelong learner and adventurous soul he constantly strived to better himself and contribute to society. He was a founding member of Kiwanis Club and served on the Board until 2010. Bill has been recognized for his significant contributions at Camp Kiwanis. He has a room at Camp Kiwanis named in his honor as well as a building that is currently being constructed that will also be named in his honor. Bill was a Mason and, Shriner (Al Azhar), member of the Royal Canadian Legion as well as a Charter Member of the Calgary Winter Club. WRs hobbies and interests included; HAM radio operator, astute Harmonica player, he loved to travel and explore and he had a passion for collecting old books. He was a dedicated family man who cherished and loved children. His sense of humour carried him through many of lifes trials. William Randall was an amazing man and those who had the privilege of knowing him were enriched. His legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all that knew and loved him. Bill is survived by his daughter Janice Hornby, Calgary,AB. Grandsons Ted (Lisa) Hornby, Calgary, AB, Clayton Hornby, Surrey, BC and James (Kassandra) Hornby, Calgary, AB and close nephew, Alex (Barbara) MacDonald Halifax, NS. Great grandchildren; Zachary, Alyssia, Arianna, Cierra and Tienna. He will also be missed by his brother Steve and sister Annie as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, son Brian Randall, son in law Frank Hornby, and brother John. Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queens Park Cemetery) on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations can be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society of your local area or to a charity of the donors choice.
