Obituary of Nora RUBY

Please share a memory of Nora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nora Ruby of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the age of 82 years. Nora was born and raised in Ghost Pine Creek, Alberta. In 1948 she married Gilbert Ruby and raised her family in the Bowness area of Calgary. In 2004 they sold their home and moved into the James Shouldice Lodge, which has since become their extended family. Even with crippling rheumatoid arthritis in her hands, Nora still had her exquisite handwriting of her youth. She was able to thread crochet, knit, do jigsaw puzzles etc. to idle away the hours which she said always went by so fast. Mom always loved to visit. She had a beautiful soul, a kind heart and a smile that lit up your day. Her sense of humour and antics always brought a chuckle or even an all out belly laugh. She will be sadly missed by those that she touched on her journey in life and who is now Home at last. Nora is survived by her children; Carol (Ray) McKeen, Sandra Ruby (Charlie), Shirley (Bill) Jefferson, Donald (Alma) Ruby, Douglas Ruby, Brian Ruby, Lorne (Chere) Ruby, Rodney Ruby (Janice); grandchildren; Daniel, Matthew, Kerri (Rowen), Kris (Chantel), Adam (Tammy), Amanda (Darrin), Dustin, Malerie, Chelsie (Adam), Johnathon (Nicole), Tyler, Darcy (Beverly), Caitlin (Clarence); great grandchildren; Hope, Mason, Emmaline, Owen, Faith; a brother-in-law Howard Love; sister-in-law Eve Bowie and many nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her loving husband Gilbert, of sixty one years in 2010; her baby daughter Louise; her parents Vern and Lillian Huxley; brother Frank (Jean Garson); sister Mae Love and brother in law Lloyd Bowie. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at the James Shouldice Lodge for their loving care for the past seven years and Dr. S. Scott and staff and also a heartfelt thanks to Lorne and Chere, and Ray and Carol for the extended care of mom and dad.
