Obituary of Frank SMITH

Frank Smith passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Extendicare Hillcrest, Calgary, at the age of 93 years. Frank was predeceased by his wife Patricia and his brother Clifford. He is survived by his three children Adrian and his wife Janie, Michael and his wife Lorraine, and Jacqueline and her husband Don, as well as 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Frank was born August 6, 1918 in Farington, England, the younger of two sons of James and Elizabeth Smith. Frank met Patricia Mary Bell in London, England during the Second World War while both served as sergeants in the British Army. They married August 21, 1944 and emigrated to Canada in 1952, settling first in Stettler and then moving to Drumheller. In 1956, Frank took a position with Mannix Construction, now Loram 99 Corporation, as a Cost Engineer and the family moved to Calgary. Frank continued to work with Loram until his retirement. A memorial service and reception for Frank was held at Heritage Park in the Wainwright Hotel, Calgary, AB, September 9, at 1:00 pm.
