Marlene (Keeler) Smith of Athabasca, AB and formerly of Williams Lake and Kamloops, B.C. and Anzac, AB, passed away in Calgary after a valiant battle with liver cancer on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 55 years. Marlene was born in Murrayville, B.C. on May 17, 1955. She worked for many years as a custodian with the school board and most recently as a retail clerk in Athabasca. Marlene enjoyed camping and had a love of horses. Most of all, her family and friends were of greatest importance to her. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Marlene is survived by her husband Rod; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lynn Keeler; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Kurt Paloposki; step sons, Trevor (Karen) and Steven (Megan); grandchildren: Jesse, Bailey, Alexis, Brayden, Matthew, Tristan and Aubrie; sisters; Emily(Al) and Roz (Butch); brothers: Gene(Dagmar), Garry(Lynn), Ed (Marilyn) and Gerald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Elizebeth Smoliak. A Memorial Service was held at Columbia Bowell Funeral Chapel (219-6th Street), New Westminster, B.C. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.
