Obituary of Joan STAR

Joan Star passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Monday, May 9, 2011. Her life journey began on a farm in Mozart, SK and included ten years of teaching grade-one students in Alberta and B.C., as well as employment with the Hudson Bay Company and Calgary Co-op. Joan was pre-deceased by her husband Dale William Star in 2010, and her father John Sigurdson in 1975. She is sadly missed by her son Lee. Also surviving Joan is her mother Rose Sigurdson; sisters: Elsie Bell, Evelyn Mackin (William), Maxine Deck (Luke) and Karen Hanevich (Harold). Joan is also survived by her sister-in-law Bev MacLay and brother-in-law Rod Star, as well as many nieces and nephews. Always remembered for her quick wit and warm heart, Joan will hold a special place in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of the Lives of both Joan and Bill will be held at Good Companions Activity Centre, 2609 19th Avenue S.W., Friday, May 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.hffs.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes be made in Joan and Bills names to a charity of your choice.
