Ram Singh Tumber, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2011 at the age of 101 years. Ram Singh was born November 12, 1909 in Chak No. 6, Pakistan. He moved to India in 1947 and began to build his home in Badla, Hoshiarpur, Punjab where he spent most of his adult life as the mayor and known as Badla Saab. He immigrated to Canada in 1981 where he enjoyed his retired years, while maintaining his responsibilities as mayor. He was respected by all and in return bestowed the same kindness such as, providing funds for education for the less fortunate and funding to build rooms in Hazur Sahib. He was happiest surrounded by his family which included two beloved wives Sital Kaur and the late Pritam Kaur, three sons, two daughters, their spouses, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. His memory will live on in our hearts but his presence will be missed forever in our home. Funeral Services were held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 4th Street N.W. on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m., followed by an Ardaas at the Martindale Gurudwara, 135 Martindale Blvd NE.
