Obituary of Thelma COOKE

Thelma, beloved wife of the late Raymond Cooke passed away peacefully Friday, October 14, 2011 at the age of 85 years with her loving family by her side. Thelma was born in Kemptville, Ontario. Her family moved to Montreal when she was young, where Thelma lived until 1980. She met and married Ray in 1948. In Montreal, she was very involved with the United Church as a Sunday School teacher and a very active member of the UCW. She was active in the community as a Brownie leader and as a volunteer with various other charities. Thelma loved people and touched the lives of anyone she came in contact with. She always made everyone smile. Thelma is survived by her children Philip Cooke (Anne), Karen Cooke and beloved dog Scotty; siblings Douglas, Allan, Donna and Barbara; many nieces and nephews; as well as the Cooke family. Thelma was predeceased by Ray in 2006; siblings Ronnie, Gertrude, Bertha, Victor and Jimmy; and many other cherished relatives and friends. A Private Family Service will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Reception on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 3 pm to 7 pm at Royal Canadian Legion #284, 606 – 38 Avenue NE, Calgary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta, #250, 4723 – 1 Street SW, Calgary, AB T2G 4Y8. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family through www.hffs.com. Thelma's family would especially like to thank the Unit 62 and Emergency staff at the Foothills Medical Centre for their kind care.
